20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. – Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV)

 

We serve a God who is capable of and wants to do more than we’ve ever seen or experienced; a God who does new things in us, through us, and all around us. During this 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, we’re wanting a fresh encounter with the One who is “…making all things new” (Revelation 21:5) so that we might be blessed with a fresh outpouring of His love, His grace, His power, His presence – not just in our own lives, but in the lives of our friends, family, and community.

In our Scripture today, the Apostle Paul invites us to use our God-given imaginations. Take 2 minutes right now to pause and dream up all the things you can imagine that God wants to do in your life, the lives of your friends and family, in our community, and in our church. Take some time and use your Kingdom imagination. What all can you see?

 

Seriously. Do it. I’ll wait.

 

So, how’d it go? Was it fun and exciting to dream like that? How many things did you come up with? You know, if we were to take everything you imagined and added it together with everything the rest of the church imagined, and then added everything imagined by everyone on the planet, God can do more. Wait, what if we multiplied it? God can still do more. Even if we were to add an exponent of infinity, God says He can still do more! And it’s with this kind of faith and expectation that we are called to live in and with each and every day.

This is why we participate in this 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting with a confident assurance that God can do the new things we’re crying out to Him for. When we’ve just begun to scratch the surface, God has infinitely more to give. When we’re praying against insurmountable odds, God can accomplish even more. When we can’t even begin to dream of future outcomes, God has an endless supply.

One more piece of good news – He wants to accomplish all of these new things through us! The passion, provision, and power we need comes from the Holy Spirit who is alive in the heart of every follower of Jesus. It’s the Holy Spirit working in us that brings new dreams. It’s the Holy Spirit in us that brings lost souls to Christ for salvation. It’s the Holy Spirit in us that produces a love that’s so powerful entire cities are transformed. It’s the Holy Spirit in us that births a faith that can move mountains. It’s the Holy Spirit in us that will bring the revival we’re desperately seeking.

Pray that God would accomplish immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine in our own lives, in our families, in our community, and in our church during this 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting – He deserves the glory!
